STUD KFS // Christian with ambitions

After graduating many Christian students start in jobs in the business world. This environment provides opportunities to seek influence, power and senior leadership.

But are you really a Christian, when you are ambitious, looking for influence and having a top job in a corporate firm? Are you really a Christian if you earn a lot of money? Are you really a Christian if you work 60 hours a week and sometimes do not reach a church? What does the ambition address and what are we called to do as Christians? What does this mean for the life of a christian and for the family when one parent is senior leader.

This evening we will meet a Christian couple where he disputes a top job in business and she works with society's weakest. They will share their experiences and invite to an honest dialogue about the dilemmas and prejudices that are connected with being ambitious.

STUD KFS // Christian superhero

In life we are shaped by rolemodels. Our parents, sports stars, writers and other public people often get a big impact on our lives. Likewise it is in our spiritual life. There is a great wealth hidden for us if we reflect on the lives and beliefs that Christians have done before us. Prepositions are both for follow-up and for "deterrence". They are for the nuance of our own lives and our own church situation and to associate ourselves with the historical church.

We will especially work with Rosenius, the enormously influential swedish preacher from the 19th century. What shaped him? Where did he find peace, strength and comfort? What can we learn from him personally and spiritually today?

STUD KFS // The historical Jesus

There is no doubt that the Gospels' accounts of Jesus have had a huge influence on the world which we are living in. But are they just interesting stories about what happened in Israel 2000 years ago, or can the Gospels be regarded as historical accounts of Jesus’ life? And does it even matter anyway?

This evening we will focus on the value of the Gospels as historical sources. Stefan Gustavsson is Swede, and Director of Apologia - Center for Christian Apologetics, and has published several books on the credibility of the Gospels.

STUD KFS // Climate Conscious Christianty?

Speaker: Lisa Rom Boye, master in history and social studies and staff worker at KFS Copenhagen

Which responsibility do we, as christians, have to take care of the climate, reduce emissions, eat less meet etc.? Is it a special one? What does the Bible mean when it says that man should "rule" over creation in Genesis?

Is it a good priority to buy the cheapest stuff, if it means what we can then give more to mission and emergency aid? How do we avoid being urban snobs who rattle against the "unenlightened conventional farmers"?

The questions and dilemmas are piling up! This evening we debate some of these hard questions. Lisa Rom Boye will share her thoughts and there will be plenty of time  for conversations, debate and healthy disagreement.

STUD KFS // Julegudstjeneste for studerende

For many students Christmas also equals the exam period.

You are probably sitting and spelling your way through Habermas’ public sphere theory. Maybe you are just finishing your paper on plate tectonics and soil conditions in the Orient. Or maybe you are choking on Slavic languages’ phonetic challenges.

No matter what, it is liberating with an imminent celebration where it is possible to just stop up.

Most have tried to attend church at Christmas eve and whether you agree on the minister’s sermon or not, you experience that we are all gathered around something. This is the idea behind this Christmas service: to gather students in Copenhagen in order to welcome Christmas.

The actual service will resemble what you know from the Danish Lutheran Church, but students will be running it.

After the service, snacks will be served and you can wish each other a merry Christmas.

We hope to see a lot of you!

Best regards
KFS – Kristeligt Forbund for Studerende (the Christian Student Union in Denmark)

STUD KFS // In remembrence of me

Speaker: Christoffer Højlund
Pastor at Fyns valgmenighed

This evening will focus on the sacraments with a narrative approach. Based on the story of the Israelites exodus of Egypt with focus on the trip through the Red Sea as the decisive action of God, separating God's people from slavery. From here a line to baptism; God has made a decisive action that once and for all separated us from everything that tries to impose on us their power (society, trends, sin, desires, etc.). Jesus repeats and reinforces the same theme in the sacrament.

STUD KFS // Dinner with meaning

Come and enjoy a good meal and have a conversation about the important questions - with inspiration from the modern monasticism L'Abri.

In 1955 Francis Schaeffer founded the L'Abri community in Switzerland, where it is possible to study and seek answers to the big questions. Since then it has spread to several places in Europe, Asia and America.

The concept is simple: We eat together in smaller groups. The conversation at the table begins with the first person who has a question. One conversation at the time.

STUD KFS // C.S. Lewis, the myth and the truth of christianity

Speaker: Bent Bjerring
Pastor at Amagerbro Frikirke

C.S. Lewis had a fairly unique approach in the presentation and defense of Christianity, which was characterized by his desire to let reason and imagination go hand in hand. This desire had its source in his special understanding of myths, where he saw Christianity as a "myth that had become a fact."

Welcome to an evening where Bent Bjerring will lead us into CS Lewis' universe and where we will look into "the myth that became a fact."
